At nine years old, this may have been a touch past its prime, but it still drank pretty well. Dark fruit and tobacco were dominant on the nose and palate, with hints of earth, cinnamon, and pepper coming through as well. Would like to try a younger bottling sometime soon for comparison. 100% Mayolet. 5/5/25.

Mayolet, by itself, is a cousin of fumin: very dark when poured, but very light. The sad part, though, is that there is very little Mayolet.

Like the others reviewing this wine, the first mouth feel was tangy acidity, followed by sour cherry and a bit of stony earth, followed by faint notes of violets. I used to think that fumin produced the best wines from this region, but I may have to change my mind.
