Well, while @Ron R @Martin G Rivard and @David A Lentine live it up, I'll be pouring this extraordinarily ugly bottle of wine. It's a Syrah-based blend.
Despite its appearance, this is quite a nice cuvée. Quite dark in the glass. There is anise, dark plum and eucalyptus on the nose.
There is a creaminess to this that reminds me of heavy malolactic fermentation in a Chardonnay.
Despite actually purchasing this wine, I had low expectations. I think it was the label. So, I was pleasantly surprised.
