Spicy for a Cali Syrah. High abv and noticeable.

Feb 4th, 2018Incredibly dark purple in the glass with lighter purple accents. Smoky nose with dried cranberries, olives, and a touch of oak. This is an odd little bottle. Somehow, it tastes more expensive than it actually is. There’s a nice complexity here that took me a little by surprise. Medium bodied with smooth tannins, the alcohol does provide a little too much heat but that passes with enough time. On the palate, there’s a nice streak of dark fruits with black cherries, blackberries, and stewed plums. Grilled meat, fresh tobacco, and pleasant vanilla also play a part. White pepper on the shortish finish. Unexpectedly very well made.
