The gaminess & ferality have calmed down, & now a big, almost Golden Retriever of a wine (tasted blind one friend thought Cabernet Sauvignon). Still, for me these deliver absurd quality on the dollar. Black fruits, chalky, deep cassis & black earth accents on the long finish. Certainly gaining more polish with age as tannins better integrated.

Dec 10th, 2024Not as feral & gamey as the ‘16s in my memory, but still vibrant old school Chianti: nose of cracked leather, cassis, & ripe black cherries; loads of underbrush, kirsch, beets, black cherries on palate. Quite svelte in body, perhaps leaner than past vintages. One of my go to Chianti producers year in year out.
