Amazing depth and clarity of fruit from nose to palate. Smells range from coffee-tar to mushroom mulch and black cherry au jus. Lovely cherry blossom notes intermingle with rose water. The tannins are big initially, but harmonize rapidly in the glass. The drying sensation in no way detracts from the fruit which is bright plum and melange of cherries including bing finishing with aloft raspberry pillow. The balance is there, the stony, schisty minerality, and the oak is perfect, allowing the wine to speak in all its elegant Chiantese! Muscle for the money!! Feed this beauty something earthy, beefy or both!
