Actually surprised by the smoothness of this wine - malolactic fermentation? Can anyone confirm?

Sangiovese from Abruzzi, IT. Full bodied, dark dried fruits, decent lift with big round grape tannins, could use a touch more acidity but still pretty tasty.

Can see how this might taste good for some, but not me. Much too dry.
