Familia Zuccardi
Serie A Santa Rosa Bonarda
Santa Rosa, Mendoza, Cuyo, Argentina
One of my favorite wines to have with basic pasta with tomato sauces (with or without meat) is Argentine Bonarda. Unfortunately we’re overrun with effing Malbec and Bonarda remains hard to find in the states, even though it’s widely grown in Argentina. This has the classic dark, purply color. Tangy dark mountain berries, crushed rocks, and bitter herbs on the nose. A blast of flavor initially, fading quickly into lingering minerals and acids. (A flavor profile that just works with the aforementioned pasta.). Cheap and good. Glad I stumbled on this. (Not sure why @Delectable Wine published my notes a second time as a comment 🤷)

Mar 14th, 2026Solid wine for the price. Easy to drink and paired well with our steaks. I'm curious to try other.

1 person found it helpfulJul 12th, 2014Blackberry, cassis, all black fruits. Warm terracotta earth. Savory herb like sage. Medium tannin and acidity, pleasurable but feels a little hollow in the finish.

Green vegetable feel to this wine on the first sips, not a bad experience. Pretty enjoyable I would say.

Oct 18th, 2020The grape gives this wine a unique flavor. I found this at a local Wine bar and liked it enough to buy a case for quarantine. Fruit forward, light tannins, brings a smile to my face with evéry sip. I just enjoy this as a wine to relax with. The 2016 is slightly better than the 2017.
