Extraordinary Merlot from Lazio. Earth and leather, licorice in the finish. The nose is earthy as well. This bottle is at the end of its life: one more year and it will be gone. Drink immediately: perfect when opened, but gone 2 hours later. This wine tastes like a great right-bank Bordeaux.

Somewhat cloudy, some raisins and plum, but an overriding smokiness that is distracting. Will have to have the second bottle straight away as this is losing steam.
