In a crazy twist of fate this is actually more reminiscent of an Oregon Pinot than a Grand Cru from Burgundy. Yes, 2011 was a tricky year but this does not speak of it's Clos Vougeot roots whatsoever.

2011 Evening Land Vineyards Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir - savory, brambles, cranberries, and hints of cinnamon, eucalyptus, and thyme opens up on the nose. Juicy and savory, ripe cranberries greet the palate and unfolds into creme de cassis. Orange rind enters the scene on the back palate and the overall experience is that if a juicy steak without the effort of tearing into it. Savory and acid and lovely to drink now, but certainly needs some time.
