#Rhone #wine with pork tenderloin. Dark red colors with evolving aromas and palate.

Robust nose with earth, brush, wet leather, meat/jerky and subtle cumin. Palate starts with zippy charged tannins, dry maraschino cherry flavors evaporating off the palate and opens to more herbs, stewed cherry with dusted white pepper. Excellent.

Nose of sweet red fruit. On the palate, one of the most savory tastes I've had in a while. Lots of subtle spice, earthiness, complexity. A bit short on the finish, otherwise this is a great food wine.

Meat and spice and everything nice. Perhaps lacking some dimension but definitely a Geoff wine.

Moist soil and branches, smoked berry and rawhide on the nose. Table pepper, stewed bing cherry, dry and smooth on the tongue. Lovely!

Earthy, stinky cheese effect. Also mild cherry coke on the nose. 100% Syrah. Complex. As good as Hermitage.

Made by an upcoming anything-goes-but-nothing-is-overdone winemaker, there is so much to like here: a cold soak to extract and maintain rich fruit, a mix of new, one-time used, and two-times used oak from Burgundy plus larger barrels to develop depth and complexity, winemaking based on the conditions of each vintage, and older-vine grapes to make up this flagship cuvée. And the wine? The acid is integrated, the tannins are silky, and the alcohol is plenty balanced (13%) so this is delicious to drink now, but it has enough structure and complexity so I want to see what happens in 5-10 years. Today it's full of a smokey tar-olives-and-ripe-blackberry aroma, which follows through on the palate but is joined by a little savory meatiness and delicate violet character. What a value northern rhone.
