Elvi Wines
Herenza Crianza Rioja Tempranillo
This is a very enjoyable Kosher wine from Rioja. Showing red and black fruits, earth, wood, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, wet leaves, vegetables and peppercorn.
Needs a couple of hours to open up, but good right out of the bottle too.
Nice mouthfeel with mild complexity and really enjoyable nose.
I paired it with cheeses and dried fruits.
14% alcohol by volume. Kosher.
89 points.
$27.

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Strong nose of blueberries, cherries, sweet strawberries, cedar, wild flowers, vanilla, liquorice, cloves, dark chocolates, coffee, tobacco and peppercorn.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, currants, raspberries, cedar, leather, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, coke, light vegetables and peppercorn.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very enjoyable wine from Spain. Tangy and spicy. Really enjoyed the nose here, simpler on the palate. Showing mild complexity with a tangy finish.
Fruit forward right out of the bottle, but after an hour of airtime it opens up with that great nose.
I paired it with cheeses, crackers and olives. Was especially good with the fatty Brie cheese.
Kosher. Not Mevushal.
