Dolcetto d'Alba

Dolcetto is rarely transcendent. This is one I’ve truly been impressed with. More stewed fruits as it revealed itself. Bold but not over the top.

Altare’s 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba offers terrific varietal character to match its mid-weight personality. The 2018 is a bit lighter than most editions - that is the vintage - but it also has tons of nuance in its dark plum, leather, cedar, licorice and tobacco flavors. Oldest dolcetto I’ve had and sitting surprisingly well. But that shouldn’t be that surprising given producer.

Fruity and easy.

Solid, slightly complex

Dried cranberries and autumn leaves. Warming.

Fresh, primary, 12.5% alc

2013. Fruit, mint, and a lot of coriander. More interesting than your typical dolcetto.

Earthy notes on nose. Dark cherries light soft tannins.
