Made by Chris Carpenter - this is a really nice Cab Franc that deviates from a typical “green” profile - definitely give it some air. When I first tasted this upon opening I got a ton of black pepper - I thought I was nuts so asked everyone else to try it and they said the same thing - guessed it was a Shiraz/Syrah. Uh, no. After about an hour in the decanter this evolved and dark red fruits began to dominate and the wine started to strut its stuff and show a silky texture and layers of flavors.

First vintage of this wine from Winemaker Chris Carpenter and it didn't disappoint. Yverdon is a classic Napa unrated for those of us who remember the old Yverdon label and this wine pays homage to the roots of the vineyard.
