Mendoza Bonarda
This instantly reminded me about the Charbono I drank about a month ago. Well, little did I know that Argentina Bonarda is Charbono in the U.S.
Stewed black fruits, raspberry, licorice, allspice, subtle bell pepper and hint of violet. Quite masculine on the palate, but viscous and ultra smooth. Juicy acidity provides firm spin. The tannins are still quite formidable.
Argentina Bonarda is genetically identical to Douce Noir from Savoie. In Italy, Bonarda refers to a group of varieties.

Last of the 3 bottles. Still going strong and will have another 4-5 years of drinking window easy. Prior notes applied.

Nov 24th, 2023Nose of ripe plum, black currant, raspberry, cinnamon, licorice, and subtle violet. Medium to full body but not as masculine as the last bottle, but still pack a punch. Love the 13% ABV. Will cruise for another 4-5 years.

We got this bottle in Mendoza (17) and even got to meet Alejandro on our visit. It was a great experience. I had never had bonarda before then. We brought it home and waited. Now that we have finally enjoyed this delicious juice I can say it was delicious!
