Holy I can taste the American oak Batman! Or at least coconut notes jumped out at me initially. Cali Syrah was next on my list of things I rarely have but may be tested on and I intend to open Cornas tomorrow so I can compare Rhône to Sonoma. But I was excited to drink this because I LOVE Eight Arms. Both the wine but also everything it stands for. I need to say I wish I were not tasting American oak. But otherwise? This one exudes maybe not jammy but verrrry ripe black plums and currants and cherries. The tannins are rich and need a little more integration. Then floods in leather and peppercorns and cocoa and...that coconut finish which I don’t love. But don’t mind, in this one.the finish goes on and the acid sings. If all else fails the 15% alcohol will knock you down. Hopefully this is a coherent review and I’m only one glass in...all I can say is this could use another year or so but hell I love Eight Arms. I like The Tentacle and The Argonaut better than this one but I also don’t like coconut so that makes sense.

Mocha and dark fruit with almost a creamy finish. Made me think of the sensation I get eating cinnamon ice cream. That's a good thing, I dig it.

Serviceable Syrah from m Alexander Valley, tons of jammy fruit, lower acidity than I like, kinda round and stout. Work with the Pork Chop.
