Durell Vineyard Syrah

Solid but a bit boring & lacking depth.

Very Rhone like in delivery. Pepper and spice. Evolved nicely but no fireworks. Smooth and easy without raising the roof

Totally rocking tonight.

So intense! Deep black cherry, bacon and violets. Was pretty much a monster at release and just cruising along.

Can't help but smile about "Produced and Bottled by Intuition and Blind Luck."

Old school Syrah and class is in-session!

One of the most elegant Syrah I've had outside of the northern Rhone. And it seems that these were 6-year-old vines in 1996.

There's a hint of the unicorn in finding a couple random bottles of this, near its 20th birthday, in a wine store in Ireland. And this is drinking beautifully with notes of meat, olives, smoke and liquorice. There's great lift on the palate with good acidity and just a little dryness on the finish. It lingers with a classic campfire note. Entirely delicious. The 1996
