2009. Aromas of ripe but tart cherries and berries. Mouthfeel is a delight, with concentrated fruit balanced with bright acids and a sleek run to a juicy, cool, and lingering finish. A structured wine with enough complexity for easy versatility when it comes to food pairings. Sausage and peppers, various pastas, grilled meats -- all within the wheelhouse of this youthful, restrained wine. Six years in it's still on the young side. 14.5% abv.

grips like wood, rips like the bat (Easton), smells of spittoon...very intriguing but beware, this ain't no Welch's grape juice

Barbera. Very ripe. Would have guessed Zinfandel if tasting blind. Boysen berries, plums, cherry spice and black pepper. Fruit is quite forward on this.

Perfect tonight with grilled tritip and spicy green beans. The wine is moving from primary to secondary aromas and flavors, and shows bright acid, complex flavors, and a pleasing and interesting bit of spice on the finish. A real treat. Glad I have a few more.
