Hermitage Syrah

Monthly WTF wine group meet up. Theme was “bring something good”. All wines (minus the bubbles and SB) were tasted blind.

This was opened after the BS was corked. Needed only about 30mins to blow off some funk and then settled in as expected. Not funky, and not as much iron as I would have thought. The fruit is all stewed and muddled, mainly red and black fruits, with red clay, oregano, and chewy fig. Drink up.

Gorgeous.

Wow blood iron wet oak fruit good still intact crispy acid a bit rough on tannins finish is deep mineraly. A little more advanced than other big names.

Leather, lovely balance, clean with a long finish, very good!!

Holy moly, drink me now and for the next 6-20 years at least . . Accompanied by black truffle pasta some elk sirloin and a prime grass fed steak charred asparagus blah blah blah . . Could not be much better as far as the secondary characteristics probably another 10 or 15 years would develop tertiary more earthy shroomy, gamey scents, but drinking fabulously now don’t hesitate

Drink up. Nicely aged, rounded. Good with steak

Color a little brown in the edges, Tobacco box, leather and tennis ball nose, body s of leather and cherry smoothly integrates into a nice food wine

Tastes like scotch. Bandaids!
