E. Guigal
Brune et Blonde de Guigal Côte-Rotie Syrah
From 375 ml. Quite advanced and almost fully tertiary. Enjoyable with food, but probably would have been best a few years ago.

Oct 7th, 2016Unfortunately it did not show its best, half the group thought corked while a few thought it was bretty. It did not grow into the stinky beast that corked wines do in my experience with air so I chalk it up to dump luck whatever the case. A little short in the nose and palate, showed barnyard funk with dried fruits, and forest floor, leather, subtle spices.

Mar 4th, 2016Nice, but a bit over the hill. Very light bodied, but with good grip. Tannins fully resolved. Very slight bricking. Fruit almost completely faded.
