Dark ruby color with purple highlights and a garnet rim. Aromas of dark berries and plums. Same dark fruits on the palate with a hint of baking spices. Quite concentrated and earthy right through the long finish. Tannins are chewy but not overpowering. Dense with a rich texture and noticeable acidity. Much softer than the sample I tasted it at the winery. Improved with age.

Think of a northern German Spätburgunder mixed with a rustic sangiovese.

At tasting in Eugenia’s Garden Ukrainian Benefit flight (!). The reason for the flight (as we just bought one from Weis). Very intriguing complex dark red fried nose and lively texture with earthiness lacing the fruit and good finish.

Very well balanced fruit and alcohol. Opens up after a few hours of air bringing the red fruits forward.
