Introducing YokelšŸ¢ A funky, fun-loving range by Dormilona. The fruit comes from Western Australiaā€™s oldest wine region - the Swan Valley. And Yokelā€™s mascot is the Western Swamp Tortoise.

This tortoise is native to the waterways of the Swan River and is currently the most critically endangered reptile in Australia. Which is why with every bottle of Yokel sold, Dormilona will give a dollar to the ā€˜Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoiseā€™ iniative and the amazing breeding program at the Perth Zoo.

I couldnā€™t resist buying a 6-pack ($120) when I found out about these wines! Iā€™ll pop the link in the comments below šŸ™Œ

So the first one we cracked into was the 2020 Verdelho. I miss my Swan Valley Verdelhoā€™s!

Itā€™s a cloudy sunny yellow ā›…ļø shade in the glass with notes of citrus zest, florals, pvc and tropical fruits like melon, guava and pawpaw rising from the glass. In the mouth itā€™s fresh and zippy!

I loved reading about this one, hereā€™s the notes from the Dormilona website:

ā€œThis fruit is from the traditional Lamonts vineyard planting, upper Swan, 80 years of age & dry grown. Hand harvest, then destemmed into open for slight skin contact, basket pressed straight to tank for a chill ferment. Battonaged on heavy lees for 5 months, full malo then racked & a touch of sulphur at bottling.ā€

Get yoā€™selves some stat!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
