Les Princes Abbés Gewürztraminer

Day 2 of the family salsiccia- making weekend. Started the festivities by toasting my late mom with a glass of her favorite wine, Gewurztraminer. This was a beautifully balanced, not over the top but spot-on rendition. Slightly sweet but everything in proportion.

Very good wine, I am not a fan of this wine variety due to the low acidity and freshness of the wine, but this wine is great example of Alsace wines.

What a lovely little Alsatian! A mild lemon color with infinitesimally tiny green flecks. White flowers and fragrant herbs are prevalent on the nose, along with citrus fruits. Nice intensity and body here. A little on the sweeter side of things but not distractingly so. Off dry with plenty of vim and vigor on the attack. Lychee fruit, peaches, ginger, and more herbs on the palate. Exactly what I needed and that’s probably true for you too.

Great minerality and acidity. Some lime and floral notes on the nose. Refreshing, but not super light bodied.
