Deep yellow, ripe fruit, botrytis/honey/ginger, mushroom funk. Really good example of Alsace PG

Jan 18th, 2018Last night was the Confrerie St. Etienne Spring dinner. It was my first time attending. This is a chapter of the original group out of Alsace, France, and is the only chapter here in the US...just happens to be in my neck of the woods! Great introduction to Alsace wines.
This was the second wine with the first course Chilean sea bass. Though I enjoyed the grand cru Riesling overall, I thought this paired best with the course. That being said, that was not my first thought. This really changed after about 20-30mins. Initially muted, oily and a slightly buttery changed to really be floral and bright.

Mar 26th, 2017Low residual sugar, crispy style of Pinot Gris, fresh, classy and elegant - feels a bit closed today - seems like light iodine notes over stone fruits and light passion character

Aug 21st, 2015Rotenberg Pinot Gris. The nose is showing smoky minerality, with subtlety of fruit; the palate is dry but intensely rich with deceptive acidity and great length. This wine is a bit shy right now but has the stuffing to go a long way.
