Domaine Xavier Durand
Ladoix Pinot Noir
Baseball and Burgundy. Is there anything better? Sappy, sultry cherry and sweet earthy scents. Nice balance and purity. A little bitterness on the finish, but not a significant distraction. Great value in a weeknight PN.

Sep 6th, 2018This is the vintage Xavier really got going. Lovely nose of spice and mineral. Big candies cherries and some sour cherries as well. Palate is soft and elegant with huge fruit. Sappy and spicey with lovely freshness. Good mouthfeel and terrific value. Needs maybe 15 minutes and then raring to go. Terrific sweetness of fruit smothered with spice.

Apr 17th, 2018On a day where lots of little things went wrong (we all have these occasionally), this is the little thing the doctor ordered to get back on track.
Sappy earthy dark cherries and spice on the nose. Open and inviting, seemingly ready to drink, though no doubt can sit a few years. Chubby in the mouth, with dark mineral-inflected black cherry pomace fruit. Pretty damn satisfying at the price!

Loads of spice on the nose. Some cherry and licorice. Deep aromas. Palate is juicy, fruit forward and has nice freshness. Simple and nice.

May 9th, 2017Nose has lots of spice, some light oak notes and some red cherry fruit. Also nice soil aromas. Good concentration and juiciness. Good purity and depth. A nice inexpensive knockback wine.

Jan 29th, 2017Very pretty nose. Red cherries, spice. A bit quiet upon opening but very clean. Palate is deep, ripe and structured. Ample volume and fruit. Serious structure as well. With air I can see this really coming together. Great balance, purity and freshness out of the gates. Length as well.

Nov 24th, 2016So many stones on the nose with deep darker cherry tones and lovely damp earth. Almost liquer like and big spice. Big '12 nose. Lovely palate with juicy limestone inflected fruit. Very nice and juicy with terrific balance between freshness and generous red fruits. Awesome stuff and terrific value at 22.99.

Jan 26th, 2016Man this is nice. It's got a little of everything. Fruit (sappy cherry, rhubarb), musky earth, baked bread, minerality. Ripe, full, and alive in the mouth. Loads of stony minerals in the finish. Great value in a village Cote de Beaune PN at $23 from Fass Selections.
