Lovely nose. Cherries galore. Spice and loads of minerals. Mid season cherries perfectly expressed. Palate is full of fruit and has great purity. Lovely structure, sap and refinement. Needs some air to fill in the gaps but all in all a lovey bottle.

Nose has smokey blueberry jam, violets, blackberry, black cherry, cedar plank and faint sun-dried tomato.

Palate has bright black cherry with some tannic grip, ripe blackberry, dried lemon zest and wet limestone gravel.

This is a Bourgogne Rouge like no other, at ~$27 there is no equal, seriously. Decanting ~4 hours really opened the wine. I'm stunned, but should know better than that by now, Lyle brings the best bargains to be had on the market with consistency.

I'm always a fan of Burgundy wines paired to Asian food, tonight particularly with Taiwanese Five Spice Pork (Lu Rou Fan | 卤肉饭) over Jasmin rice with lightly fried eggs from our private egg factory in the backyard (and locally raised NY pork). The recipe traditionally calls for a soft poached egg, but we prefer lightly fried, no flip. I took extra care caramelizing the shallots tonight, and we reduced the volume of soy sauce. I think we've reached peak enjoyment on this particular dish.

Prior notes apply, decanted +6H based on prior experience, more time was better. Purchased pre-tariff for ~$22, this wine stands and delivers like nothing else, love me some Fass Selections magic!

Consistent with my last experience about 5mo. ago, but the nose picked up some fresh cranberry.

Note for future self, this really comes into the zone at about hour 5...plan decant timing accordingly.
