Domaine Serene
Mark Bradford Vineyard Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
The Mark Bradford Vineyard has high elevation plantings to Pinot Noir and was the first vineyard planted by Grace and Ken Evenstad, aptly named after their son. Showing a deep core, the wine begins with intense aromas that instantly excite. Red cherry cola, cigar ash, peat moss, blood orange zest and pomegranate seed aromas all come to mind. There is a beautiful, seamless quality to this wine, as it effortlessly glides across the mid-palate. Wild strawberry, red cherry candy, black tea, cranberry, pomegranate and peat moss flavors all combine marvelously leading up to the finish. While this possesses notable weight, there is also a striking elegance. Surprisingly open and accessible, this is another stunning Pinot Noir from Domaine Serene and talanted winemaker, Michael Fay. Drink 2019-2038- 95

Feb 19th, 2019Monthly 4th Friday is post Thanksgiving this year, so lots of Thanksgiving style wines!
Tight on the nose. A flavor punch of raspberries and blackberries dipped in maple bark. Very herbal and savory on the palate with acidity that is surprising for its age (in a good way). It actually tasted like a young, fruit forward CdP with black pepper, dates, and ripe blackberries. Drinking really well right now. Thanks @Keith Fisher

From 12 Liter at dinner at the vineyard. Nice to have a bottle that serves 80! Delish too.

Aug 28th, 2016On the first go around: Meh...quite unremarkable. It's only redeeming quality was that of an alcohol delivery device. Makes one wonder what the heck is so special as to make this a single vnyd bottling. Hubris I'm guessing.. I'll have another crack at it tonight...but I'm not hopeful. I really detest wasting palate time on average wines that request above average pricing

Nov 19th, 2013Pretty tight still for a 15 year old wine. Definitely has that willamette terroir poking through with slight cola and herbal tones. Don’t got me wrong, delicious, but was kind of expecting more.

Nov 21st, 2020After an hour this one was doing remarkably well. Nose of black cherry and raspberry with age on the nose. The entry was tobacco and cola alongside black cherry. This one is a little bit on the downslope. Surprised at the depth of this wine at 13 years. Softer finish. Newer wines from this producer definitely have much more noteworthy stiff punchy tannin. This one did not have that characteristic, which made the bouquet so much more lovely on the finish. Very lovely. I think I'd give a lot of their younger stuff right around a 9.0 or 9.1 with youth, but this one gains some points with age.
