Tasted yesterday with @domaineserene president, Ryan Harris, the Grand Cheval 2013 is a blend of 80% Syrah from Walla Walla's outstanding The Rocks District AVA. The balance of this uncommon blend is a dollop of Pinot Noir from Domaine Serene's Mark Bradford vineyard. Sumptuous, lifted aromas of boysenberries, rhubarb, violets, loamy earth, graphite and spice. It's broad shouldered, yet fresh and refined, with black fruit anchored in fine, sueded tannins, followed by a subtle burst of acidity that terminates in peppery bliss.

2018 - dark fruit, blackberry, cherry. Mild tannins. Good with pizza. And probably everything else.

Found this one in the cellar and figured I'd pop it open this evening. Smooth Syrah/Pinot blend however, not as fruit forward as I was hoping for.
