Violets, cassis and smoke. 64% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 1% Counoise. Vineyard situated in several parts of Chateauneuf-du-Pape called Lea Saintes Vierges, La Font du Pape and La Crau Ouest. On the label we honor Jean XXII. Native of Cahors, he was the first pope to Avignon as residence. As well, he planted the papal vineyards and ordered to build a new castle (chateau neuf) in the place that should become Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Hand picked and sorted, whole bunch fermentation with punching down for gentle extraction. 18 months in oak wooden tanks.

Firm, mineral, and interesting CNDP. Nose is melange of blueberry compote, mulberry, wild raspberry compote, underbrush, dried roses, potpourri, spice cake, thyme, tar, baked earth and gravel. Palate is savory, herbal, and mineral driven. Matches nose. Wild black berries, cooked plum, blue tones, menthol, thyme, sage, hot stones. Seems to have a very Gigondas personality to it or maybe just in my head?

This was super Bretty when I opened it, but the palate was beautifully elegant.

I'm a big fan of 2013 CdP, and this delivers. Chateauneuf that's ripe, with acid, structure, and freshness.

Cooked cherry and raspberry - cassis - amazing wine - lots of fruit and terroir

Bello. Muy elegante. Esperaba mas Syrah (spicy) pero esta súper balanceado con la Garnacha predominando. En su peak.

Decanted for an hour and tasted fresh, young, and light. Got a lot of pepper and some brine on the backend. Nose of flowers but a definite olive oil, herbs, ripe red and purple fruits. Couldn’t pin the flavors and did some research to find the Counoise grape is blended, hopefully explaining why my unrefined palate is finding such different flavors. Definitely feeling the high alcohol coming off enough that it almost feels like overbearing acid. Tannins coat the tongue but it still comes off with a deep freshness. Lovely.
