Slightly underripe raspberries slathered on warm river stones. Gamay is one hell of a variety. Could smell this shit all day.

High toned wild red berries, lifted floral tones, layers of herbaceous and mineral nuances and lip smacking acidity. Mix of other non-fruits like blood orange, spices, and funky earth make for my favorite kind wine: complex, delicious, food friendly, and downright drinkable.

Nose has pink grapefruit, intense crushed rock minerality, and cracked peppercorns. Soft and zingy, and very minerally in the mouth. Funny how in the Rhone Gamay seems to display more minerality and less overt fruitiness than in Beaujolais.

The color is a muddy Burgundy red emerging from a tight black. The nose is wildly feral with smoke, cut weeds, and tiny red berries. The taste is bitter bing cherry with notes of persimmon and hints of blood orange. Highly acidic, just this side of sharp. This wine does caress the palate. It pricks it with a sharp needle of flavor. Striking. $35 Retail

Ohh my gauwwd. This is my new thing. Gamay channeling northern Rhone pepper profile. Would love to have all the "natural wine" haters taste this stuff.

Delicious Gamay. Has some rusticity but fruit is up front. Lovely texture. Great balance. Would drink more fun I could find it.

Deep cherry with a strong mineral character. Better in a few months I think.
