Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru En Caradeux Pinot Noir

Haven’t had in 5 years. Bright nose that smells very 2015. Deep red cherry fruit with some plum accents. Lovely earthy and mineral undertones. Really harmonious. Hint of truffle as well. Palate is ripe and rich but also has fantastic acidity and freshness. Good density but as this has aged the 15 is more there and the fruit is more sweet, vulgar and treacly. Why i’ll continue to plough through my 15 reds. I really think they were better 3-5 years ago

First bottle in a bit over 2 years. Nose is very pure with clearly defined mid season cherry fruit. Really focused and pointed. Needs to open more but it’s so precise. Deep minerality. Wafting. Such cleanliness. Palate is juicy and ripe with good lift but seeks a bit closed but the finish has great length and acid with tiny berry fruit intensity. I think this will need to open up over an hour. Really fine tannins and very compact. Opening up. Really a large scaled wine like Carradeux can be but thick fruit. Reminds me of Les Naugues in Mercurey which is a favorite of mine.

Have not had this in 2.5 years and glad I waited here. What a nose. Amazing lipstick like intensity. Gorgeous mid to late season cherry fruit. Insane clarity. Such exuberance and purity. Wow. Palate is so juicy and clean with a massive mineral driven core and still some substantial tannin, but it’s starting to melt away. Fantastic freshness and energy. Lovely intense cherry fruit. Gets to every nook and cranny. Reminds me of the 18 vintage a bit with the huge minerality and complex tannic structure. I’d recommend cellaring for 2-3 more years. It’s really close to peaking.

Stunningly complex and so complete. So pure. Mid season cherries. Earthy limestone aromas, great big tannins. Juicy. Amazing finish.

Showing so well. Ripe nose but with prominent earthy character. Gamey and a hint of feral as well. Kiss of licorice. Palate is dense, sweet and mineral and has that puppy like 2015 fruit texture attack. Really juicy and so pure with great complexity and firm tannins. Clean and so pure. Amazingly fresh for 15. Still years to go. No rush.

Have not had in a little over a year. It was time. Stunning pure cherry cranberry strawberry fruit on the nose. Very pure. A bit of funk as well that blew off after 5-10 minutes. Deep spices and earth as well. Big deep confectionary cherry fruit with terrific complexity and freshness. Toothsome tannins and excellent volume and amplitude. Substantial depth and structure and wonderful sweet sweet fruit. No rush. Wonderful.

In a great place. Nose of earth, mineral, dank cherry fruits, spice, some dampness and dead leaves as well. Very classic. Palate is exuberant with tons of juicy fruit and big time cherry. Terrific lip smacking acidity and such nice purity. Outstanding. Balanced and poised.

Been checking in on some 2012's recently. Very expressive nose with an intense mineral streak apparent but with lovely deep cherry fruit. Shows the density and sweetness of 12. Unmistakable. Such elegance and finesse. Needs maybe 45 minutes as the fruit is hiding. Amazing texture and so well made. Impeccable balance and purity. Super fresh. Great showing.

One of the more tannic Pernand 1er Crus. Has that deep dark 2012 color. Some funk and horse to open up with. Earth, minerals and a hint of fruit. Some floral notes develop after 15 minutes. Palate shows why 2012 is so great. Juicy, dense and ripe with ample volume. Lovely sweetness of fruit. Red licorice infused dense berry fruit and already showing awesome complexity and class. Definitely has those tell tale Caradeaux tannins. But big and sweet. Awesome wine that still needs 3-4 years.

Beautiful nose and such freshness allied with sweet fruit on the palate. Carradeaux tannins in full force but ripe and sweet.
