Domaine Passot Les Rampaux
Chiroubles Gamay
a little fat and sassy but held up well over a few days.

Feb 18th, 2022This is a producer I’ve had before and thought they exhibit a great QPR. Obligatory Thanksgiving Beaujolais post.
My note here is somewhat similar to the 2016 Regnie I posted from this producer last year. Very crunchy/OR Pinot like. No carbonic flair. A bit medicinal on the nose with cranberry, underripe black cherry and cherry Jolly Rancher. Once it hits the palate, the acidity is really nervy…good structure here to hold for a while. More cranberry, black cherry tart, herbal spice and just a small hint of wintergreen. There is a woodsy profile here too. Not a crushable Beaujolais, but more on the unique side. Definitely best right at cellar temp.
