Domaine Paillère et Pied-Gû
Gigondas Red Rhone Blend
Purple in color with a wide purple/ reddish rim.
On the nose, blueberries, cherries, raspberries, sweet plums, earth, vanilla, oak, violets, vegetables, pencil lead and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, blueberries, strawberries, earth, light vegetables, wet rocks, leather and peppercorn.
Medium finish with firm tannins and tangy cranberries.
This Gigondas is drinking nicely now as a five-year-old. Showing nice acidity with nice complexity and an enjoyable mouthfeel.
Needs 3 hours to open up properly and relax the tannins a little bit.
Enjoyable by itself and better with food. I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

A rare find on a bad list. Pleasantly surprised!
