Sep 27th, 2021Bright and clear garnet. Abundant nose of black cherry and red licorice. Medium-bodied palate of black cherry, black tea, and a hint of vanilla. Medium acidity. Medium tannins. Very much like a young, less austere Burgundy. Not surprising as winemaker Laurent Montalieu is a Burgundian himself. Nice and juicy now, but this should show some development with time. Drink now through 2024.

The nose starts with lots of earth and dark spice, but that blows off and you're left with ripe cherry, cranberry, and a touch of tobacco.. The palate gets really smooth as it airs out.. It just needs some time and babying. Great entry-level Oregon Pinot though and has a pretty plush mouthfeel for being $15!

The wine is thin, light in body, with oak overshadowing the fruit and an alcohol burn, out of balance. I have not found any private label wine really worth drinking. Beware when you enter big box wine shops loaded with private label stuff. Tasting Sample.
