Dark fruited, concentrated, pairs well with bacon

Got that grapefruit rind coupled with black olive coming at you with no excuses. She is delicate however, and paying extra attention to her curves will serve you well.

Dense, inky, chewy, brooding, spicy. A touch hot.

Lovely wine from a region I need to explore more often. #cornas #rhone

Brooding, structured & tannic that is still too young and unresolved. Just needs more time.

Dark fruits, rich, structured with black olive, cracked pepper, crushed rock & forest floor. Decanted 1 hr but still needs a few more years.

Very structured. Wait few years, the beauty is there.

Gordon's northern Rhone tasting 9/20/16. Seemed more closed off than younger vintages. Still nicely balanced but tannin seems a bit more edgy even if not biting but might be sign of starting resolution? Finish a bit shorter but very complex.

This took about 5-6 hours to finally open up, and I wish I had the patience to wait till night 2. Sadly, I think I was several years to early as it still felt it had more to give. Currently on a Northern Rhone tour and Cornas was my next stop. This wine presented all the brooding, dark leather, herbaceous, and bramble flavors I expected, but turned supple and hit me with peppered blackbeery and plum. Really great wine, can't wait till it peaks and I will get a few more bottles to make sure I'm there when it does.
