The nose on the 2016 was Galets was savory and peppery, with black fruits accentuated by notes of wild herbs, crushed stone, smoke, and exotic spice. On the palate, I found silky-soft textures with cool ripe black fruits and brisk acidity. It seemed almost sweet at first, yet time in the glass added depths of minerals smoky spice, licorice and violet floral tones. The dark fruit finish was long with saturating minerality and hints of grippy tannin. There's a lot to like here, and dare I say that this may get better with a year or two in the cellar.
