An exceptional White Bourgogne - see previous Delectable notes. You wouldn’t expect anything less from Leroy. Peach and pear with minerality, acid and fruit all in balance. Of the 3 bottles I bought they have continually improved with each bottle. Wish I could afford their Premier and Grand Crus. The few I have tasted seem to be a cut above. A cuvée like Leroy Musigny is the provence of billionaires and potentates.

Similar notes to previous bottle when posted in December 2020 but more fulsome on the palate with more stone fruit and less mineral than then. Palate showing peach and nectarine with diminished acid and salinity. Very delicious and probably worth the $115 AUD. A little cleansing citric acid to finish off.

Pale Lemon in colour. A touch of vanillin oak with green melon - restrained yet balanced - not giving a lot on nose or palate. The following night still restrained but opened up a little more revealing melons, mineral and a touch of pineapple juice. Medium minus acid. At $115 AUD for a Village Burgundy - an ambitious price, but it is Leroy. The sort of delicate, refined white Bourgogne you would expect from Mme Bize Leroy.

The nose reveals; green apple, candle wax, lime candy, pineapple, tropical melons, cream, some buttered popcorn, white peach, honeycomb, dry & fresh herbs, soft, powdery chalkiness, saline, limestone minerals, volcanics, sea fossils, steeliness, vanillin, lanolin, cheese rind with yellow lilies/flowers, jasmine and fruit blossoms.

The mouthfeel is; full, round, lush and gorgeous with high viscosity. Green apple, candle wax, lime candy, very ripe, juicy pineapple flesh, kiwi, tropical melons, cream, some buttered popcorn, white peach, honeysuckle to honey, caramel notes, dry & fresh herbs, soft, powdery chalkiness, saline, hints of dry grass, grippy limestone minerals & grey volcanics, sea fossils, white spice, steeliness, vanillin, lanolin, cheese rind with yellow lilies/flowers, jasmine and fruit blossoms. The acidity is lively and round. The finish is minutes, nicely balanced in fruit & minerality, palate penetrating white spice with some mid intensity heat.

Gets better and better as it warms and opens up.

Love this vintage. This has a little while to go, which is impressive for a Bourgogne Blanc. Minerality, but a nice honeyed citrus quality. Beautiful nose. Leroy rarely disappoints...

The nose reveals, mashed, sour, candied/liqueured, meyer lemon, very ripe, pineapple, golden apple, lime skin, & green apple w/ almost no skin, fresh, herbal qualities, honey, beeswax, vanillin, warm caramel, limestone minerals, soft chalkiness, wet stone with yellow lilies and florals and mixed greens.

The body is; round, rich, bold, thick & waxy. It is gorgeous over the palate. Mashed, sour, candied/liqueured, meyer lemon, grapefruit pulp, dry & candied pineapple, golden apple, key lime, stone fruit, tangerine & green apple w/ almost no skin, fresh, herbal qualities, honey, beeswax, vanillin, warm caramel, toffee, marmalade, white spice, limestone minerals, soft chalkiness, wet stone, dusty dry rocks, saline notes with yellow lilies, white florals & mixed greens. The acidity is, beautifully, round & phat. The rich, ruby, heather honied, well balanced/polished finish delicious & lingers well.

Lemon color. Youthful nose of lemon, apple, stone fruit and stone. Medium palate, with crisp acidity but with a soft palate. Lemon and minerality on the palate. Long finish. Great stuff.
