Just popped and double-decanted this about 10 minutes ago, so I may end up updating my notes. But right now, the nose is a bit shy, giving up a little tree bark, licorice, and faint blackberry pomace. It’s more demonstrative in the mouth, showing dark, scorchy flavors and lots of scratchy tannin. Not fun on its own, but hopefully will do better accompanying my almost-ready daube Provençal.

May 8th, 2020Baked blackberry pie, baking spice, and plums. Fresh and ripe. Superb balance of acidity and linear tannin. Black cherry fruit and vanilla bean fruit persist into a solid finish. Cellared for a snowy day, and this Bandol did not disappoint.

Feb 24th, 2018This is a cool wine. Worn leather, bitter chocolate, black cherry, ripe figs, with a dusty oh-so-mourvedre finish. Needs air before drinking.
