2021 Chardonnay from the Cote d’Or won’t come around again I don’t think. What a throwback vintage. Nose is rich, buttery and also limestone infused. Palate is just angles on angles on angles with some delicate richness and sap thrown in. Long and complex and super pure. Decadent yet chiseled. Great concentration and complexly and all one can ask for at this level. Lemony finish.

May 24th, 2023In a great place. Nose is rich, mineral and custardy. So bright and lifted. Lush and energetic with great acids and just slathered airy minerals. Racy and rich. Julien got insane freshness in 18. Long. So impressive. Finish is so lemony. The length here is remarkable for this level.

Mar 13th, 2023Always a favorite and it smokes in 19. Nose starts out shy and buttery. Some minerals peeking out. But all in all one smells the density but also senses it’s holding back. But that palate brings it. Electric, retesting, mineral and deep. Some apple fruit and also some citrus but the texture, freshness and mineral complexity tell the story here. Terrific length. Best since 14. A brilliant version of this.

Palate is terrific with loads of energy, acidity and freshness. Such purity. So good. Complex. Superb finesse and elegance for a wine that is “small.” Electric and long finish. Yup. A 9.3. Very high for a wine like this.

Dec 16th, 2019I love this wine. Screaming mineral on the nose with sliced apple and pear. Ripe but contained and balanced. Palate is engagingly mineral. Complex, compact and compact and so juicy. So well made. Amazing precision, energy and so linear. Give it more length and fat and you’ve got a $100 bottle of 1er Cru.

Jul 23rd, 2019Mineral and stuffed nose. A bit quiet as it is cold. Palate has terrific cut and intensity. Nice compactness that reminds me of 2012. Juicy and perfectly balanced. So fresh and pure.

May 3rd, 2019Been a minute since I’ve had this. Lovely nose. Ripe apple and pear, some 15 sunshine and dazzling purity. Lovely mineral streak as well. Palate is ripe with terrific energy and freshness. Lovely opulence but also acid and minerality. Juicy and much longer than one would think.

Delicious!! Apple, lemon, butter, and a hint of butterscotch. Everything in balance. Lots of acidity and minerality to counter the rich notes.
