This was the first bottle of burgundy I bought just under five years ago. Didn’t know much about the producer, vintage, region or vineyard, I just knew it was time to start adding a few to check on in later years. Glad I did!

Alongside this was a 2002 Piper Rare, 2008 SQN The Duel Grenache and a 1989 Beychevelle, paired with Braised Texas Iberico Ossobuco…and shockingly, all worked with the dish.

While we decanted the other reds, we pulled the cork and let this sit in the bottle for 30mins or so before pouring. Dark crimson in the glass with some translucence. Aromatics of cedar, herb crusted black cherries, raspberries and dark floral notes…not shy. The first half of the bottle showed a very pretty/elegant profile with nervy acidity, and then this absolutely transformed to a more complex and filled-out wine…black peppercorn, clay/earth with some iron at the finish that persisted for a good while.

Drinking really well now, and likely reaching peak enjoyment for those who enjoy their burgs with a balanced fruit and secondary profile.

You never know when there’s going to be a Burgundy Emergency, but when you find bottle no. 911 you can’t back out. Frankly, this is so good, the emergency should apply for any bottle you find. From a 0.43 acre parcel planted in 1961. Exotically spiced strawberry pulls you in and then leads you down a path that’s filled with smoked ham, apricot, fresh herbs, black truffle, cocoa powder, rose petal, and worn leather. I would follow her anywhere she wants me to go.

Blood, sanguine, meaty and sauvage - red berry fruit behind as it opens up. This wine has a lot of potential. I am excited for it to open up.

Red flowers floral on the nose with cinnamon. Palate is red floral, dark cherries, strawberries, pomegranate, fresh cranberries, light earth and minerality. Beautiful wine but worthy of cellaring. Your patience will be rewarded!

Young and seductive....
Not as muscular as a Pommard but has the silkiness of the Volnay.
Lavender, spice, herb and kiss of oak!!!

Very stylish. Red raspberry and earth with a wonderful velvet texture and a dry, complex finish. A bit funky on the nose upon opening, but brilliant given some time to open up.
