St Jean de la Porte Vin de Savoie Mondeuse Noir

Juicy, lip smacking, filled with wild black raspberry and plummy fruit goodness, all backed by cool spices, violets, blood orange. Uncomplicated and fun!

Decent

Sour cherry, stems, rose petal. Clean, tart, bit simple. Good value.

Sweaty, tart berry fruit. Little earth. Some acidic grip. Some funk. Why not?

Candied fruit, almost bubble gum-like. My first time trying Mondeuse.

Almost like a Cru Beaujolais, but less candied, lots of anise type, tar covered cherries, crushed rocks, and my fave descriptor of the day: "grocery store bulk licorice bins". Light and easy going on the palate.

Primary fruits and spice. Really lovely for $13.00

First 100% mondeuse. Simply brown sugar, sasparilla, warmed black cherries and currant. Smooth tannins. Savory long finish. Supposedly ageable but not sure I see the components to improve overtime.

So fascinating to taste mondeuse after reason and studying it so much!

Mondeuse?? Not my favorite, but at least it was a good salsa wine.
