I love what Girard does with this cuvée. Gorgeous nose of sour cherries, wet moss, flowers and mid season perfectly ripe cherries. Little earthy, feral vibe as well on the nose. So Savigny. Palate feels so alive and has terrific fruit and texture. Sweet, silky, gritty and feral all at the same time and has that stunning balance that is a signature of the 23’s from Girard. The best vintage here since 19. So fresh and sappy with great acids and remarkably sweet and velvety tannins. Let’s see what air does but man this is good on the pop and pour. Long, chewy finish. The energy here is top notch. Love the mid palate opulence here.

Apr 28th, 2025Glorious bottle. Red and black cherries jump out of the glass with shimmering clarity. Black raspberry and violets. Really terrific nose. 9.5. Palate is velvety and sweet with juicy and super pure black cherry fruit and real density, explosiveness and length while being light in tannins but there is still a delicate structure here and wow that length. Real finesse as well. Best Serpentieres from Girard I have ever had.

Mar 18th, 2024Wow this is singing. Stunningly deep floral/cherry nose. Mid season cherries that are perfectly ripe and juicy and so clear. Unreal spice and tweed jacket as well. 9.5 nose. Blown away. This drinks so well with 5-6 years on it. Palate is just heaven. Juicy and so decadent with good weight and luscious black cherry and late season red cherry fruit. Sapid and deep. Mineral finish. Outstanding showing. Unreal balance and freshness. It’s a 9.5 right now. Tannins need to smooth out so maybe even a 9.6 with air.

Sep 5th, 2023Dark brambly nose of red cherries, dark forest berries, underbrush on a ripe frame. Deep and aromatic and lovely tinge of herbals. Palate is super juicy and fresh with nice mid to late season red and black cherries and terrific acidity which gives the palate great lift. Finishes stoney and mineral. Chewy finish. Tannins are silky and smooth. Structure catches up with air and the fruit extends on the finish. With air the finesse picks up and all the parts integrate more and roundness ensues.

Under all that is terrific potent sous bois and minerality. What a nose. Smoke. Minerals and so so bright. Nuanced and detailed. A “why I love” burgundy nose. Gorgeous wet moss. So so alluring. 9.4/9.5 nose. What a palate. Amazing fruit quality and such awesome, clearly defined cherry fruit. Such elegance and polished, ripe sweet tannins. It’s opulent and elegant at the same time. This has structure to burn as well and will age 15+ years. Terrific energy and sweet fruit. Best Serpentieres I’ve ever had from Girard.

Elegant, nimble and racy with loads of cherry fruit with great intensity but remains lithe and elegant. Precise and balanced. Beautiful. Pure. Classic. Ripe, juicy tannins and such succulence on the mid palate and the finish.
