Domaine Jacques Prieur
Volnay-Santenots 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Very primary. Fruit forward and lush. Dark deep ruby-looks like Syrah. Not my style but nothing wrong about it, just more new world style.

Dec 28th, 20162009. Lots of pretty red-fruit-and-flowers smellies, as is Volnay's want - but none of the blacker fruits of Pommard creeping in. The palate is little unknit, without some of the the focus and drive I expect from Volnay, but overall a really nice wine without any truly swoon-worthy aspect to it, I.e the bad boyfriend on a regular day.

Jan 15th, 2015A splurge bottle. This was an "educational" wine, it showed me what a properly aged Burgundy can do. Ethereal, fresh, overlapping fruit-earthy notes, and a long finish that had you enjoying well past the swallow.
