Very primary. Fruit forward and lush. Dark deep ruby-looks like Syrah. Not my style but nothing wrong about it, just more new world style.

Rich mid red fruits, good soft minerality and nice acidity. However, a bit light on body and complexity.

Wonderful richness ...fruit hanging in...paired against La Scolca pinot nero 2006...guess which ruby is in the glass!

2009. Lots of pretty red-fruit-and-flowers smellies, as is Volnay's want - but none of the blacker fruits of Pommard creeping in. The palate is little unknit, without some of the the focus and drive I expect from Volnay, but overall a really nice wine without any truly swoon-worthy aspect to it, I.e the bad boyfriend on a regular day.

Nice fruit but lacking a bit of complexity which is main reason I didn't rate higher.

Dark ruby color, looks like a young wine. Touch of greens on the nose at first, then oak, fruits, warm spices, all in control, no aromas overpowering the other. On the palate, loaded of berries flavors, round mouthfeel, a little dry on the finish, but will gain silkiness with air. So flavorful, nice depth, touch of spices. A really beautiful wine. Superb.

Tasted blind, I was thinking of a 2009 Côtes-de-Nuits for its richness of fruit…the pleasure of tasting blind !

Made of Pinot Noir, aged 16 months in oak barrels. Alcohol level of 13.3%

A splurge bottle. This was an "educational" wine, it showed me what a properly aged Burgundy can do. Ethereal, fresh, overlapping fruit-earthy notes, and a long finish that had you enjoying well past the swallow.
