"Sainte Epine" St. Joseph Syrah

Glass-staining ruby. Smoke- and spice-tinged dark berry, cherry and violet scents pick up a hint of licorice with air. In a fleshy, generous style, showing very good depth and appealing sweetness to the cherry preserve and cassis flavors, which take on a spicy aspect on the back half. Smooth, even tannins frame a long, smoky finish that leaves a hint of bitter chocolate behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, April 2020)

Just a stunner. He got so pricey. Sad! Stunning nose. Lavender fields of blackberries. Violets. Amazing purity, delicacy and precision to the nose. Palate is unreal. Super pure. Super sappy and wonderfully sappy and elegant. Amazing density and yet so light on its feet. Needs some air to really gain in complexity. Wonderful opulence in the mid and such refinement. Juicy and lovely granite minerality on the finish. This is very classy but also a bit young. I’ll come back to this with air.

A stunning wine. Just stunning. In the red fruited elegant yet deep and velvety style of a great St. Epine. Deep nose or plush red and black berries, mashed flowers, crushed granite and loads of spice. Terrifically complex nose. Palate just has the purest sweetest fruit you can imagine. That classic Habrard purity and explosiveness. So deep sappy yet beguilingly fresh and dense. A drop dead St. Jospeh. Such power and concentration knit in velvet. Beautiful tannins.

This is off the hook good. Not rustic at all. Lilac nose with some licorice. Medium fruit. Great balance. Fresh and juicy. Juicy finish with some Spice. Wow. A flawless wine. Wish I bought a case. Bought from Fass selections.
