Big smokey nose with blackberry coulis, olives, dark violets, game, leather and granite. So elegant and pretty. Just opened so aromas will continue to manifest deeper and deeper. Palate is ripe and rich but also so silky and delicate with a slippery texture and barely sweet blackberry and red berry fruits. Perfectly balanced and so pure and sapid. Nose gets some tree bark and wonderful citrus notes as it airs. Great freshness and acidity and really terrific mineral spine. Finished like licking granite. Love it. We will see how this develops with air. After 5 hours of air this is teeming with energy and the freshness overfloweth. Nose is now blackberry coulis and stunning granite. Elegant and so meaty. Classic southern sector Cote Rotie. 9.4 to 9.5.

Popped and poured, enjoyed over 3 days. Best on Day 3. The wine pours a deep purple color with a nearly opaque core; medium+ viscosity, and notable staining of the tears. On the nose, remarkable aromas of black, red and blue fruits, lavender pastilles, black pepper, bacon fat (this shows more with extended air), olive tapenade, and rocky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. The finish is long with a lovely streak of minerals that just carries. This is a lovely Côte-Rôtie that showed its quality at the first pour but really came into its own with extended air. You can drink now with patience and an extended decant otherwise these will likely be singing after 2030 and drink well through 2040.

Such a meaty nose. Floral like crazy as well. So inviting like an old friend. Violets and just so clear and vivid. 9.6 nose. Elite. Totally all in its place. Stunning is the word. So supple, suave and elegant. Juicy as all can be and so pure. How is this not more well known and not over $100? Supple, grainy and sweet tannins. So delicate. Wow. Is this the best vintage ever for Gallet? Tiny berry fruit intensity is off the charts. Such drive and purity. So granitic and mineral. Genius!

Nose is lovely but starts off a bit funky. Gorgeous minerals and florals. Elegant snd delicate like Gallet can be. Game, herbs and meat. Sweat. From working in the fields. Major terroir wine here. Palate is juicy, lush, elegant, delicate and pure. A bit closed but all parts are there and it’s just paint by numbers at this point as it airs. Long finish. Terrific fruit soak and concentration. Shows the succulence and fruit forward quality of 2017 and those sweet velvety tannins. After three hours the texture gets so silky. Awesome great sweetness and meatness.

Black and green olive and smashed violets with a gamey feral quality. So classic. Gorgeous. Floored me. The most quintessential nose. Gorgeous purity and freshness and so elegant and round but with awesome freshness and refinement. Sweet elegant fruit. So pure. Always a winner. A brilliant vintage for this. Amazing inner mouth aromas. So juicy and just teeming with energy. Brilliant. Very Cote Blonde.

Cat-Rotie. Gorgeous nose. Floral, feral, meaty, gamey, blackberry, lovely mineral and vivid. deep fruit. Palate is super juicy and elegant with lovely pure fruit and terrific freshness. Really fine tannins. 2013 is so good for Côte Rotie. Terrific mix of sweetness and gaminess.
