2008 vintage. Franck's wines are characterised by a purity and crispness that is very alluring. He's a true artisan and this approachable '08 RSV is no exception. He makes a very small quantity of this wine, and along with his Corton Grand Cru, it is his top wine. Fresh black fruit profile, earth, mineral and wood polish. On the palate, great balance of fruit and alcohol/tannins - super integrated and silky. This is a textural wine. It reminds me of a beautiful girl in a silk dressing gown. Acidity is bright and accentuates the fruit. The finish is long. For an '08 (a much underrated vintage in my opinion) it feels as if I have pulled the cork five years too early as this wine is still on the way up and will gain complexity with age. In time, we will be able to rip off the dressing gown and reveal the perfect body underneath!!! NB: with an hour in the glass, the girl is flashing her .... Opening up very nicely now. There's a subtle depth of character and perfume that moves this wine into a different bracket. Fabulous.
