The first of the whites at the Grand Cru Burgundy Dinner. Stone fruit on the nose and a little citrus. Grand Cru concentration, length and intensity, coming together nicely at 8 years of age, although still taut. Some toast and a note of mandarin. The importer, Ramon, from Negociants said this was from a 3 Hectare block using 50% new oak. Ramon said there were 4 bottles of this available for sale in Australia and all used up on this dinner. Very very good. I ended up buying a bottle of the 2017 which was a great year for White Burgundy.

Double blind tasting

Greenish nose. Tense. Develops with creamy notes, nutty, rich and mouth filling. Saline minerality. Already very drinkable now.

Very well crafted Chardonnay. We took wild guess if that was Piemonte.

BBM is effectively a lieu-dit of Batard-Montrachet. Lacks the breed of upper Grand Crus. Located at the bottom of the slope with a richer soils.

Despite its youth, beautifully aromatic and complex with amazing purity and flare. This is out of sight today but give it another 5-8 years it’s going to merit another 3-4 points higher.

OK, words cannot describe this elegant soft beauty! Perfect Balance, perfect acidity, pretty much almost a perfect wine.
