I hesitate to give less than 8.0 but this really just falls flat. You practically have to jump into the glass to find the nose and the palate leaves before you have a chance to really taste it.

2nd #tourdefrance day in Pyrenees. My first Madiran tannat w. Piperade Basque. Big & burly. Don't tell the French we prefer TablasCreek's

First time trying style. Very tannic and not a ton of other flavor.

Lock jaw inducing tannins. Im a fan of tannat but not this one. Little to no structure. Will not buy again.

More tannins than I was prepared for. Not bad but was looking for more up front fruit for balance. Doubt I'll go this route again; just not right for my palate.

Dense nose with blackberry and rubber. The 2011 is a little long in tooth I'd say, with a lot of acid. Opens nicely to show some well-defined cherry and blackberry with palpable tannins to complete a medium finish.

Takes quite a bit for this beast to soften. Even then it still hits you in a big bold abrasive tone. Scalding you to drink more to figure out what you did wrong. Nothing. A fun prices Madiran for a Thursday cool down.
Tastes like grapes! Haha..

$12; a bit of an oddity; Tannat grape; a palindromic grape; very structured and concentrated (very dry-Tannat); breathed in the bottle 2 days; interesting; worth revisiting.
