Dec 22nd, 2014Delightful, complex and well balanced, I was impressed with how white fruit and mineraility added a nimble quality that complemented the honeyed richness that can make young Savennieres from ripe years a little ponderous.

Oct 21st, 20142010 Chenin Blanc from Savennières, Anjou-Saumur, Loire Valley, France.
This wine is deep gold. On the nose it has a medium(+) intensity of developing aromas. Aromas include primary notes of bruised apple, stewed and spiced pear, ripe apricot, golden raisin, and honeysuckle. Also tertiary notes of honey, marzipan, and walnut. On the palate, this is a dry wine. It has medium acidity, a full body, high alcohol, and medium (+) intensity in flavors. Flavors are consistent with the nose. The finish is medium (+). This is a very good wine. It may be consumed now but has potential for further aging.
We so enjoyed this, it really evolved in the glass after letting it breathe and reach closer to room temperature. Love the complexity, texture, and character.
Clos du Papillon, Savennières. Domaine du Closel. Vintage 2010. ABV 14.5%.

Deep golden color. Afraid it’s gone like the old Barth Pinot d’Alsace but no this is perfectly fine. Complex floral and earth and that weight yet lithe palate that comes with mature vino. Perfect for the hot pot BD dinner for Andrew 7/17/20.

Jul 18th, 2020Neuro reunion dinner at Agave 10/13/18. John's fav. Golden color with unctuous full mouth feel and bit of oxidized fruits and long finish. Floral complex nose. Quite a show of Chenin Blanc.

Oct 14th, 2018CVed 1/24/18. Nice golden color. Straw, white fruit, quince, chalk, minerals on nose. Acidic balanced medium body firm texture and intensity on palate with a good long finish. Would be great food wine. Gordon's back then $28 and good value.
