Domaine des Schistes, Joia, Muscat à petits grains, vin doux naturel 2022.
This is the macerated version of their VDN made of Muscat. No real notes but I tasted it at cave Gustumo last week in Canet en Roussillon and thought my parents would love it as I did. And they love it! And I still do 😊. Aperitive pour of evening before our diner. Notes of lemon peel, citron, yuzu, fresh grape juice, pine sap, there is a bit of a chalky thing in the rear too. Quite complex and super inviting. This is what sold me actually. The palate is acid driven which I love, because the sweetness is really well balanced. There is certain viscosity to it, some width and nice soft feel, some grape, lemony and yuzu notes all along. The finish is moderately long, with a bit of heat, and some tannic feel to it too. At the end, notes of lemon curd, lemon peel and yuzu, as well a tiny salted caramel note pop up and wrap things up in a nice way. This is really, really delicious. Thumbs up!
